It’s been a while since I heard that M. H. Alshaya Co. was
going to introduce online shopping for some of the franchises they represent in
Kuwait, Yes It’s true, Mathercare is already online :)
Although it’s not new to Kuwait as there are lots of online
shops offering different local and international products, Mathercare.com.kw
online shop looks, so far, the most professional in terms of the homepage
organization, the categories, the variety of product and the other value
propositions offered to customers in addition to the actual product.
For me as a customer, what I care for is:
- Ease access and registration process
- Ease ordering procedure
- Cheaper prices
- Quick delivery
- Special deals every now and then
- Be the first to get the product before reaches the shop
In Mathercare.com.kw case, I found that the registration was
not easy, asked for lots of address details which I think they only have to ask
for when purchase. Ordering was easy, the prices are almost the same as the
shop so I’m a bit disappointed. By introducing an online shop, Al Shaya is
reducing loads of overhead costs like the rent space, the number of
employees..etc. so why are the prices still the same! And a delivery fee of KD
5 for less than KD 49 order!! Didn’t make sense to me at all. I hope they will
consider real special deals and more offers and for sure re-think the prices
and the delivery fee!!
Other local online shops I check every now and then
(personal opinion):
- Souq.com : easy ordering process, good deals but they need to consider the website layout and invest more on it
- Snatchittoday.com/ : very recent and concentrates on group buying, nice deals but the offers are not discounted enough and the products are limited
- Oleanaboutique.com: well organized, good prices but limited products
- Xcite.com : again prices almost the same as the store but like the variety
I wish more variety on online shopping in Kuwait and real
good offers for customers to enjoy.
